Sqn Ldr Drobinkski Signed RAF Hendon Closure FDC WW1569 - 1987 The Closure of Royal Air Force Hendon JSF10 cover personally autographed by Squadron Leader B. H. “Gandi” Drobinski DFC.

In 1939 when Poland was invaded by Germany, Drobinski and some 100 other Polish pilots crossed the Romanian border and were captured and detained by the Germans. With two friends, he managed to escape to England. Posted to 65 East India Squadron he flew a number of operations during the Battle of Britain. After this he was posted to 303 Polish Squadron at RAF Northolt flying Spitfires. During Operation Rhubarb over France, during the course of just one week, Drobinski destroyed five Me-109s. For this he was awarded the DFC.
