 Abbott and Costello signature pieces |
IQ007 Two extremely rare signature pieces in the hands of Bud Abbott (1895 - 1974) and Lou Costello (1906 - 1959). They were one of the most famous comedy acts in history, thanks to the endurance of their most popular and influential routine, 'Who's on First?' -whose rapid-fire word play and comprehension confusion set the preponderant framework for most of their best-known routines. The duo made over 30 films between 1940 and 1956 and were credited with saving the struggling Universal - such was their box-office popularity. They both struggled in life with illness, personal tragedy and alcoholism. Costello died of a heart-attack in 1959 and Abbott died of cancer in 1974. This piece features undedicated autographs from both Bud Abbott and Lou Costello presented along with a b/w photograph from Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy. Superb piece. £750
