Wilhelm Frederik Christian Carlsen Freddie (7 February 1909 – 26 October 1995) was a Danish painter and sculptor. Initially working along a
somewhat abstract line, he soon turned towards a more realistic surrealism, only to later return to abstract art. Some of his works were highly
controversial and considered pornographic at their time, resulting in confiscation of the works and imprisonment of Freddie, though his artistic
merits were later recognized.

RARE AUTOGRAPHS & MEMORABILIA
LOT281 - Martin Luther King Jr & Langston Hughes signed book.
This item is a “New Panorama Bible Study Course” - a visual aid to Bible
study. It was produced in 1959 and measures an impressive 43cm x 22cm Martin Luther King Jr has autographed this book on the first page
inside. He has signed “Best Wishes, Martin L. King Jr, 3/23/61” Underneath his autograph is the signature of poet and fellow activist Langston
Hughes (1902 - 1967), who has signed “For Mrs. Cunningham, Thanks so much for the magazine, with the sincere regards of Langston Hughes”
As I’m sure you’ll appreciate, pricing an item as rare and historical as this is incredibly difficult. The book alone is very collectable and is worth
around £100 unsigned! The autograph of Langston Hughes is worth anywhere between £400 - £2000. A Highly regarded Collectibles firm
recently offered a smaller item, with a shorter signature of Martin Luther King Jr for £4500. We believe this item is not only unique, not only
incredibly attractive, but with this year being the 50th Anniversary of the famous speech, we think this is probably undervalued at the price we
are asking. I doubt we’ll ever be able to offer something like this again. Academy of Manuscript and Autograph, LLC were asked for their opinion
on this item and were happy it was authentic. James Mercer Langston Hughes was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and
columnist. He was one of the earliest innovators of the then-new literary art form jazz poetry. Hughes is best known as a leader of the Harlem
Renaissance. Good Condition Est. £2000 - 3000
